Think about it. It wouldn’t feel like a tropical forest if there was a fire pit and a sculpture in the center as the focal piece would it?

Generally, you shouldn’t have too many hardscapes besides your paths, rocks, retaining walls, seating areas, and water features . And even then, they shouldn’t take up more than 30-40% of your landscape in most cases.

Remember, you want to keep the focus on your plants.

For the paths, both modern and traditional designs can fit in quite nicely, so just go with the material you prefer.

For the water features, you want features that fit in a tropical forest, i.e. ponds and waterfalls. Fountains can work too as they help reinforce the resort and villa feel.

Water features also increase the humidity of your landscape, which is beneficial for your tropical plants that are used to extremely humid environments.

4. Maintenance

Maintaining a tropical garden takes more work than many other styles, but it has to be done if you want to enjoy the rewards.

Edgers are like large can openers, as you’re basically holding a pole with a sharp wheel at the end and using it to cut grass near the edges of other surfaces like walkways or driveways. The purpose is to cut out a clear line that separates the surface from the lawn.

Edgers can be manual or powered. Bigger edgers can sometimes resemble a lawn mower with four wheels.

5. Dethatchers

Anyway, thatch simply refers to dead grass, branches, and debris that are bound to accumulate over time. The mechanism of dethatchers resembles cultivators, but the blades are shorter so that only the layer of thatch is removed.

While sprayers aren’t a must, gardening enthusiasts or simply those who care more about their plants will want to consider getting one.

4. Trellises

Trellises are structures that act as supports for plants. They can come in many shapes, such as lattices and even wrought-iron pieces.

Only some plants require support, and even then, sometimes, just a wooden stick is enough.

Same as with fall, the steps for cleaning and inspections remain the same, with a couple of extra steps:

For your outdoor furniture, besides checking for damages, you should store them in a shed or garage for protection from the weather. The same goes for any objects that aren’t fixed in place and may be vulnerable to the weather, such as your outdoor grills and decorative items.
